- We ARE sisters! Beth got her first beads in sixth grade and has been in love with beadwork since then. (which means she's been doing beadwork a long time!) She is an artist- painter, writer, knitter, embroiderer... Rebecca has been working with beads for about five years. She is a musician, song-writer, poet, painter, and a serious reader. Your work is beautiful, as always. Someday when I'm rich, I'll comission my jewelry from you guys!
I just finihsed a very basic 10-hour metalsmithing/jewelry workshop at Fuller. I made planished silver earrings, a copper necklace (which I hope to finish with the amber-coloured glass beads I bought in Istanbul), and a wirework-gem stone pendant. Creativity, especially working-with-your-hands crafting--is a good tonic when a grad student, I've discovered. (It's different than the creativity required to craft a research paper, for instance--something I should be doing right now, in fact!)
I started beading while in Papua New Guinea about three years ago, and the old beads I dug out of the basement of the Henry's, as well as the left-over fix-it projects you returned to me, have provided the raw materials for a few more necklaces. You guys remain an inspiration for my jewelry-making; I consistently get complimented on many pieces that you've made for me.
I've finally acquired little round-nosed pliers, and may yet master closing jump rings.
